Sharing the Good News with Elementary Aged Kids

Every Tuesday during the school year—from mid-September through Spring Break—a dedicated team gathers with children at Wingate Elementary’s cafeteria after school. Together, they share a snack, talk about their “God-sightings,” joys, and prayers, sing lively songs, experience Bible stories in engaging ways, and meet in small groups to reflect and express what they’ve learned through conversation and creativity with their leaders and families.


As Child Evangelism Fellowship, the Good News Club’s sponsoring organization, puts it: “God uses ordinary people who take the time to reach children where they are and teach them about Jesus.”


Sometimes the impact is heard in the simplest, most powerful ways. One second-grader, learning about Easter for the first time, shared: “I never heard that Easter story before. I always thought it was about springtime and bunnies.”


Moments like these remind us why this matters. Children need to know—even in the middle of the week, on an ordinary Tuesday—that God is always present and loves them beyond measure.


Ways To Get Involved

Pray for Good News Club

Prayer warriors are always a blessing for the hearts and minds of these children and their families. Pray for the time we have to be fruitful. Prayers are always needed! 

Sign Up for a One Time Need 

Sign up to bring snacks for a Tuesday or two. Sign up as a substitute for a table leader, storyteller or song leader. Look for a chance to participate in a Parents’ Night Out at the church for Good News Club families or in a morning mom’s group—inviting GNC moms. Or contribute to the shipping or the contents of the Operation Christmas Child boxes in November. All these one-time needs help sustain the programing of Good News Club so we can share the good news of Christ with kids and help them put their budding faith into action. 

Become a Weekly Leader 

Weekly volunteers are such a blessing to this ministry. We need table leaders, storytellers, and song leaders with a heart for loving on kids and sharing the Good News. How amazing it would be to have such an abundance of saints sign up, that someone feels led to start a second Good News Club at Broadway Elementary.
