Encounter | Shaped | Sent | Together

TOGETHER we ENCOUNTER Jesus, are SHAPED by His love, and SENT in His name.

Encounter

We believe that encountering Jesus changes lives. And as a church, we want people to encounter Jesus regularly – whether for the first time or the hundredth. We hope everyone has the opportunity to have a living, dynamic relationship with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Shaped

We want more than just an encounter; we want to be shaped by Jesus’ love. Jesus calls us to follow him and become his disciples. We believe that the best, most beautiful version of life is one where we follow Christ’s lived example. That means being formed, molded, and shaped by him so that little by little, our hearts, minds, desires, hopes, and dreams echo Jesus’.

Sent

All of this means nothing if we are not also sent into the world in His name. Jesus encounters us and shapes us so that he can send us into the world to be his ambassadors. We want to be a church that equips and sends our people out into the world to share the Good News of Jesus, bring justice in places that are broken, shed light where there is darkness, and see God’s Kingdom come on earth as it is in heaven.

Together

Underlying all this is the belief that we are not meant to do it alone. We are called to be part of God’s family, sharing the ups and downs of life together. We don’t do it perfectly but we believe we are meant to follow Jesus together as a family, not alone. We are a community that supports each other, challenges each other, prays for each other, and loves each other. We break bread and eat together – in the very real, ordinary events of day-to-day life.

The MPC Story

Monument Presbyterian Church was planted by the Presbytery of Western Colorado in order to reach people for Christ in the Redlands area of Grand Junction. MPC was organized on January 1, 2001, with 143 charter members. Pastor Jeff Harmeling was our organizing pastor and remained in leadership until his retirement in 2016. We initially met at Wingate Elementary school, until the new church building at 2018 South Broadway was dedicated on July 25, 2004. MPC welcomed new pastors Megan and Tyson Babayco in June of 2021.
